Ecological Clerk of Works (ECOW) & Ecological Support

Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) services provide on-site ecological support during construction, helping ensure that mitigation measures are implemented correctly and that works remain compliant with ecological legislation, planning conditions and licence requirements.

Atlantic58 provides ECoW and construction-phase ecological support across a range of development and land management projects. Our role is to provide practical, proportionate advice on site, working constructively with contractors and project teams to manage ecological risks while allowing works to progress efficiently. This includes supporting construction in environments where habitats are sensitive, access can be constrained and ecological considerations are often a defining factor in how works are carried out.

ECoW services can include pre-construction ecological checks, nesting bird checks prior to works, delivery of site-specific toolbox talks, input to method statements, supervision of sensitive works and monitoring of mitigation measures. Where required, we also provide support in relation to protected species licences and act as a point of contact between site teams, planners and regulators.
