About us

Atlantic58 is an environmental, ecological and social consultancy & research centre based in the Isle of Lewis, in the Outer Hebrides. Founded in 2015 and incorporated in 2018, the company provides a range of ecological survey services and environmental and planning support services across both the onshore and marine environment.

Our mission

Atlantic58 provides independent, evidence-led ecological, environmental, and social consultancy services that support responsible decision-making and long-term stewardship of island, coastal, and rural environments. Our work is grounded in scientific integrity, local knowledge, and a commitment to high quality, proportionate and transparent advice.

Our values

  • We base our advice on robust evidence and professional judgement without bias. Our findings are not shaped to fit preferred outcomes, and uncertainty / data limitations are clearly stated.

  • We recognise that island archipelago environments are complex and dynamic, with strong links to people and culture. Good assessment and advice must reflect local ecological processes, seasonal patterns, and community context.

  • We provide advice that is proportionate to ecological risk and regulatory need. We are clear with clients where work is unnecessary, where impacts are significant, and where constraints are unavoiable.

  • We work constructively with communities, regulators, clients, and project partners. We value clear communication, mutual respect and inclusive engagement throughout our projects.
