enhANCEMENT, RESTORATION & LAND MANAGEMENT

Enhancement and restoration work is increasingly required across both development and land management contexts, driven by national policy objectives for nature recovery and sustainable land use. National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4) places a clear emphasis on delivering positive outcomes for biodiversity, while land managers and community groups are increasingly engaging with restoration and enhancement through funding and stewardship schemes, including the Agri-Environment Climate Scheme (AECS).

Enhancement, restoration and land management support is focused on practical delivery and long-term viability. This includes development-led enhancement required to support planning applications, as well as wider habitat management and restoration projects that sit outside the planning process. Emphasis is placed on identifying measures that are appropriate to site conditions, land use and management objectives, and that can be realistically implemented and maintained.

Support is provided for a range of enhancement and restoration activities, including habitat creation and improvement, integration of enhancement measures within development proposals, and advice on land management approaches that deliver biodiversity benefits for land managers, crofters and community groups.

With our office based in the Western Isles, collaborative projects are supported through close working relationships and an understanding of local delivery contexts. Ecological input is provided in a way that is practical, responsive and aligned with how land is managed and projects are delivered on the ground.
