Location: Cheesebay, Lochmaddy, North Uist

Client:  Mowi (Scotland) Ltd

The Project: The client is currently progressing proposals to redevelop the existing shorebase supporting Cheesebay marine fish farm. Under NPF4 new requirements, certain non-EIA developments are required to consider biodiversity enhancement options. Atlantic58's project objectives were to survey otter and include measures to safeguard otter, and establish the potential for biodiversity enhancement initiatives for the Cheesebay shorebase development.

Our Role: Atlantic58 conducted desk and field based assessment of ecological receptors focusing on protected species (otter) and construction proposals to identify options for habitat and biodiversity enhancement under new National Planning Framework (NPF) requirements.

Outcome:  Ongoing

“The reason that we have engaged Atlantic58 is because of their wealth of expertise in Environmental Impact Assessment, knowledge of the aquaculture sector, and their ability to undertake detailed and complex environmental assessments, in addition to providing a range of other complimentary environmental support services. We have developed an extremely effective and productive working relationship across a range of differing development projects with Atlantic58 consistently delivering first-class environmental support, meeting our requirements across a constantly evolving regulatory environment.”
